Walk with us as we uncover the stories of the incredible women and their communities who have shaped this city. This trail has been co-produced with the volunteers of the Thistles and Dandelions project, an inclusive heritage project.
This online trail gives a flavour of the guided tour we have created celebrating the multi-layered narratives of any given site in the city. At one stop we encounter the supposed site of the chapel of St Thenue, the mother of Glasgow, and now the offices of the charity Empower Women for Change. Another stop, the Central Mosque, tells both the story of the Muslim women who fundraised to build it and now the vaccination drive during the pandemic. This trail also tells the journey of our project, with the stories of the artists, writers, and historians who helped shape it, inspiring us to celebrate some of our own personal stories as part of the fabric of Glasgow.
