Recognising the tremendous team work that created this tour
The untold Stories of local folk during the Second World War.
This tour transports you to Langside in 1940 and invites you to walk in the footsteps of people living in these tenements and walking these streets during the war years.
You'll hear the untold stories of those who saw conflict overseas and did not return, as well as some who came home; the refugees who arrived and passed through here; the businesses and shops which adapted to the challenges and restrictions of blackout, rationing, deprivation and the drive to support the war effort; and the horses and trams that kept everyone moving.
Listening to the audio clips on each stage of this journey, we hope you will gain some insights into the
sights, sounds, smells and preoccupations which dominated life Langside during these turbulent war years.
Our starting point was the list of names commemorated on the Battlefield West Church War Memorial, and from these untold stories unfolded .....
