Langside Community Heritage/Newlands South Church

Our purpose is to contribute to local social cohesion and civic participation by facilitating access to anyone wanting to develop knowledge and life skills associated with the archaeology, local history and cultural heritage of the Langside, Battlefield, Queens Park & Newlands areas. We aim to achieve this by encouraging voluntary participation in community archaeology and through local heritage projects, events and activities.

In first 3 years of its existence Langside Community Heritage has run a number of popular local community events and projects, including Dig Langside, Ancient Skills Day, Langside 450 and Our War is Over. LCH also organise evening talks on a range of subjects related to the rich heritage of the local area. All the events have proved to be popular, demonstrating the level of local interest in these subjects. Total gate entry numbers for Langside 450, a huge local partnership event based in Queen's Park in May 2018, exceeded 10,000 over a single weekend.
