The Arlington Baths Club is a Victorian swimming pool and Turkish Bath in Glasgow run by members.

Since we opened our doors in 1871, hundreds of Glasgow people have come here to go swimming, meet friends and enjoy health and wellbeing.

We are members of the Baths who are interested in the history of the Arlington Baths – the building, the people, and the social history of sport, health and leisure in the city of Glasgow.

As we find out more about our past we’re sharing it though this online, at events and in the Baths.

Welcome to the Arlington Baths Club 150th Anniversary Walk.

In 1870 a group of prosperous, and mainly young, businessmen met to discuss the idea of building an indoor “Swimming Pond”.

On this walk we will introduce you to some of these men, their families and the houses they inhabited.

Hear more about the Baths, the first privately-owned bathing club in Europe, the architects and builders, and the thriving businesses that drove Glasgow at the time.
