Gina is a researcher in digital culture and recently graduated with an MSc in Digital Education from the University of Edinburgh.
She is interested in our daily encounter with hybrid spaces, the geographically referenced locations which, particularly through the use of wearable technology, create digital ‘traces’ of our physical activity. Technology allows us to assemble and re-assemble these traces into our own virtual art galleries whilst on the move.
For the exhibition Art in Granton (March 2016) she created an installation entitled ‘The Visitor’ based on a walk around Granton Gasworks and the derelict Madelvic factory, now awaiting an uncertain future.
‘The Visitor’ is a collaboration with Edinburgh-based musician Harry Bongo who provided the evocative track ’Storm’. His 7’39’’ composition offers a soundscape to the aesthetic impressions of the natural landscape and the remains of industrial activity.
The music is available in the first stop, synchronised with the images.
