Overview

Saint Stephen’s Cathedral in Sens is the world’s first Gothic cathedral. Construction began around 1130 and the cathedral was consecrated in 1164, more than 860 years ago. The first stone of Notre-Dame de Paris was laid in 1163, making it the younger sister of Saint Stephen’s Cathedral in Sens!

During this interactive visit, which lasts approximately one hour, you will discover the cathedral’s 12th-century rib vaults, admire the 16th-century works characteristic of the Flamboyant Gothic style and learn more about the fascinating history of this remarkable building.
