Part storyteller and part history junkie, Marianne Mowry Gardner creates audio tours to take you back in time through her company, Southern Driving Tours. Her own history begins with her birth in Washington State. She grew up in Aiken, South Carolina and then went to Emory University and Atlanta. After graduation, she became interested in media, earning a Masters in Media from Georgia State University. She spent years crafting video pieces for companies and then searched for other stories to tell. Georgia’s history inspired her first audio tour and continues to provide a context for telling stories. Her work is about a historical and emotional connection to a place. Characters tell their stories to create that emotional connection. Marianne loves gardening, flowers, and traveling, as well as narratives. She’s taught media production courses at American Intercontinental University and she records and produces digital media.
