Overview

With 800 years of history, the Château de Fontainebleau bears the imprint of the greatest sovereigns, including Napoleon I.
Becoming a city of horses, Fontainebleau is a popular destination for equestrian enthusiasts thanks to the Grand Parquet and the Solle racecourse, patron saint of the Republican Guard. It also remains attached to its ancestral military tradition with the Military Riding School.
For more than five centuries, horses have been part of the daily lives of both residents and sovereigns, for transportation and agriculture for some, and hunting and war for others. Numerous military garrisons have been established there from the Ancien Régime to the present day, with the names of the Marshals of the Empire etched in the city's history.
You will set out in search of one of Napoleon I's favorite horses by exploring the château's gardens and grounds. Through equestrian and historical questions, you will eventually discover where it is hiding..
